Our favourite Microsoft E3 2016 reveals

Microsoft E3 2016 FI

The E3 2016 is ‘long’ gone, and the dust is settled. What did we take from all that videogame news? Our Editor Sam took everything into account and narrowed down the 5 most interesting announcements during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. Starting with Microsoft.
Note, these are in no particular order, just summing up the 5 most interesting. Video’s from Official XBox Youtube Channel.

Xbox One S

According to Microsoft, the new hardware in Xbox one S doesn’t mean better performances. The new GPU and CPU only serve the possibility for HDR ‘High dynamic range’. HDR is a technology which supports more lively colours and contrast on televisions who support this. Performance-wise you don’t have to buy the new Xbox, because it is identical to the Xbox One. The Xbox One S does look slick, though. It’s slimmer, smaller and has a new controller with a larger range.

Project Scorpio

Just three years after the release of the Xbox One, Microsoft announced the new generation Xbox. They call it; Project Scorpio. It will probably come out in 2017 and is said to compete with not just the PlayStation 4, but also with PC. Boasting the option for 4K graphics in your games and is said to be VR-ready. The machine will run a performance speed of six teraflops. In perspective to the Xbox One, it will ben five times more powerful. The new console is to be compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox One S. “Nobody gets left behind” Phil Spencer promised.

Sea of Thieves

Although we didn’t get a lot of footage shown, Sea of Thieves looks like something we could have a lot of fun with. It sounds a bit like a pirate simulator but that’s something I’d personally would enjoy dearly. There will be a lot of sailing, naval battles and exploring in the company of your friends. The wait shouldn’t be all to long with a release said to be in 2017. Yar!

Gears of War 4

Microsoft really treated with the gameplay trailer of Gears of War 4. There is a whole new cast, including the son of the protagonist of the original trilogy. They didn’t change much of the formula to make sure it would still feel and play like previous Gears of War games. Gears of War 4 launches on October 11, 2016.

Forza Horizon 3

With the gameplay demo of Forza Horizon 3, Microsoft really put the emphasis on playing together. That, combined with the amazing graphics and huge variety of vehicles and terrain types makes this a nice new entry to the already stellar Horizon series. It all takes place in the beautiful Australian landscape. Forza Horizon 3 is planned to be released in September 27th.

These are our favourites, but definitely not the only good stuff coming to Xbox One and Windows 10. What are your favourite announcements for Microsoft and what do you think of the new “Play Anywhere” concept? Let us know on Twitter. We’d love to hear your opinion.

Sam
Her biggest passions are gaming, cats and Game of Thrones. Luckily, they don't conflict.. but if they did, she'd lawyer them into submission. Her favourite games are The Last of Us and the Uncharted serie but will play any quality game as long as the main focus isn't racing. Sam on Twitter
